So the retrieval went smoothly.  My doctor tells me right away that of the 13 follicles I had she was able to get 11 eggs. Not a bad number! All we need is one good egg! The morning after the retrieval  she calls me with results and tells me that all 11 fertilized. We are beyond happy. She will call me every morning and give me an update and let me know how they progress and when we can estimate the transfer will be.

Our surrogate is very anxious to know the transfer date. Her two kids, age 9 and 12, are involved in activities at home and she hopes she will be able to work the transfer around their schedules. I know she is doing everything possible for us but I also understand that she has a life and family of her own to take care of.

So we will wait a few more days to know if it will be a 3 day, 5 day, or even 6 day fresh embryo(s) transfer.

All I can think of is how many to transfer. Usually doctors transfer on average 1 or 2 for younger women (eggs) and 3 or more for those 35 and older. Since I'm 34.5 my doctor had always mentioned that we may be transferring on the higher side. I keep thinking, how will I manage if we have twins? Be careful what you wish for!! If the eggs are perfect could we convince our doctor to only transfer one embryo? Would it be worth taking that risk that the 1 wouldn't stick? After all we have been through to get to this very point we may just have to take the advice of the professional and  keep our fingers crossed that whatever we get is exactly what we are able to handle.

That's a Great outcome Marni... 11 out of 13!  As I read your story, and I know that Journey very well, I can't help but to get this feeling, the same I had during my process. Maybe I'm not making any sense, what I am trying to say is I'M EXCITED with you!!  Praying for you and family!!!
